As well as seriously improving my balancing and 'Invisible to other Londoners' skills, I'm spoilt for choice for people watching! Even if there are an awful lot of downcast eyes.
Fun fun. Not to mention the exciting work I'm doing in between those morning/evening trains :]
And good times with good people, (with a lickle bit of a Sargent drawing thrown in fo' shits).
Currently on a break in Ireland, and it's been pretty interesting so far.
Starting off with night trains and early morning ferries, the flat caps were out in full force.
Different places, but dark windows show the same.
Nothing like a 0630 stop in Maccy D's... upon realising nothing else is open. Coffee was good though, and there's decent space to work.
Check out @CupDublin for an awesome cup of joe and homemade scones.
Then a trip to Cavan to see my cousins results in helping out on the set of a music video! Felt very welcome by the crew. Check out The Strypes - www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mdlx-2RZkYo . Nice guys with a great sound.
Photo study for a personal piece. Really enjoyed this and stopped when I felt it served its purpose.
Realised with one painting I really didn't know how to paint a horse, so with proportions/musculature as the main focus (those damnable legs!) I went on to have a lot of fun with it as a colour study as well.
Trying out the digital sketchbook at life drawing. Great fun!
I post these acknowledging that the quality isn't soaring, but I was most interested in the pattern/rate of improvement.
All between 20\30 mins, I spent a (steadily decreasing) portion of each pose wrapping my head around a new tool.
That feeling you have when your brain is trying to compute technical/physical material complications, as opposed to just drawing or trusting your hand? Yeah, that. Just keep pushing.
So, in chronological order,
P.S. Getting to grips with PaintTool SAI on a 700t Ativ Smart PC Pro.
Recently returned from a Caribbean holiday; wonderful heat, incredible light and colours, and new sights, smells and sounds for the refreshed senses!
I was touring on various islands, taking in the history, culture, the flora & fauna, and grabbing time here and there to knock out a little sketch. Words and photographs can't quite do the atmosphere justice, and I hope to return... those clouds demand to be painted!
Cruise Ship Ventura.
Bro on St. Maarten!
St. Kitts Botanical Gardens Bismark tree!
Pre-dinner drink?! This guy's your man!
Le finale soleil :']
Now I just pretend that I can still feel my hands, and that the entire colour spectrum hasn't been reduced to 'every colour, plus brown and/or grey', and I'm good to go!
